The first date of the Bamboozle Roadshow was in Columbia, MD, held at the Merriweather Post Pavilion.

The tour started off with a beautiful day and a large crowd lining up at the venue, with two stages and 14 bands, there was something for everyone. Since there were so many bands, I will be splitting up the pictures into 3 posts. To start us off, here are photos of Drive A, Mercy Mercedes, Great Big Planes, and Vita Chambers. I also did a video interview with Drive A, but due to some technical glitches I can’t post it. If you like some no BS old-school punk, I suggest checking them out!

The Bamboozle Roadshow 2010

The Bamboozle Roadshow 2010 is about to begin with less than a week before the opening date in Columbia, MD on Friday May 21st.

With two stages and around 14 bands playing each show, this year’s Roadshow takes a decidedly more festival-like approach to the tour than the 2009 Bamboozle Roadshow, which was more of a standard tour with 5 bands playing larger club venues. This year’s venues are much larger to accommodate the extra stage and larger crowds. The show is an all day event, rather than the usual 6pm or 7pm starting time.

Another change from last year is the timing – while last year’s roadshow led up to Bamboozle (usually held the first weekend in May) this year’s tour is more of a continuation of the festival rather than a preview. The lineup also changes depending on the date – for the lineup of the city closest to you, please check out the end of this article which has the tour dates and lineups for each individual venue.

There are both big name artists and some lesser known acts on the bill of each show. Several acts will have a nostalgia factor for some of our slightly older readers, such as Third Eye Blind (a personal favorite of mine), Hanson, Simple Plan, and Good Charlotte. The tour also features some of the most popular pop rock/ pop punk acts around today, featuring All Time Low, Forever The Sickest Kids, Boys Like Girls, 3OH!3, LMFAO, Cartel and Cobra Starship. You should also check out the openers, you never know who will be your next favorite band: Cady Groves, Drive A, Great Big Planes, Mercy Mercedes, Stereo Skyline, The Downtown Fiction, The Ready Set, Vita Chambers, I Fight Dragons, and Vedera.

The Summer Set started off the evening with an energetic set and were followed by Every Avenue, who played several new songs off of their recently released album, Picture Perfect. The Cab played next, complete with their two new touring members. The Maine was up next with an acoustic set performed by John O’Callaghan and Jared Monaco. This was the only AP Tour stop for The Maine while filling in for Hey Monday, who weren’t able to play due to some scheduling conflicts. Never Shout Never concluded the evening by performing a lively set to a very enthusiastic crowd who sang along with singer Cristopher Drew to every song.

These photos were taken on April 20th 2010 at The National, in Richmond, VA. The show only had two bands performing, with The Rocket Summer supporting The Goo Goo Dolls. Bryce Avery of The Rocket Summer started off the evening with an energetic 11 song set that included both older favorites such as Do You Feel and So Much Love as well as some material off of the newly released album, Of Men and Angels. He got the crowd involved in the middle of the set, walking out into the middle of the sold out audience to perform. The Goo Goo Dolls followed with a 23 song set including plenty of their many hits with an enthusiastic crowd singing along to every song.

Title Fight began the energetic show with plenty of crowd surfing and stage diving that continued through the night with This Time Next Year and The Bled. The night concluded with a great set from Four Year Strong, including some new songs off their upcoming release Enemy of the World (March 9, 2010).

These photos were taken at a holiday show on Decemeber 5, 2009. The show was held at The National, a gorgeous renovated theater in downtown Richmond, Virginia. The state-of-the-art sound system and light show was an added bonus to compliment a great lineup of Switchfoot, Cartel, and Paper Tongues. Paper Tongues opened the show, followed by a short but quality set from Cartel and ending with an energetic performance from Switchfoot.
