Arts and Crafts artist, Jason Collett, has set the release date for his fourth installment, Rat a Tat Tat. Set to drop March 9th, 2010, Rat a Tat Tat is to be an achievement on an amorphous amount of levels.
Growing out of the Toronto solo artist scene, you can see Jason is highly influenced by his nation and culture. Song title’s like ‘Lake Superior’ and ‘Winnipeg Winds’ show that Jason’s Canadian roots stay strong. His album has everything from stories to human analyzation to passionate and love filled songs, and is something to hear.
You can download the track ‘Love is a Dirty Word’ free here.

On a personal note, my favourite part is 3:23, where you can see the band going full out, and the chemistry between Oli and Sam really stands out.
Ontario’s own Dead and Divine are back, with a new music video off their album The Machines We Are. The song is called Neon Jesus and you certainly understand the neon part. With the dark setting and the eerie glow of the lights, it sets the mood. The cloaked men with neon weapons will definitely remind you of something from starwars. Regardless of how intergalatic this may be, they still need your help to get their video played more on much! So go vote for them here: http://www.muchmusic.com/tv/mod20/talk_to_us.aspx

Kingdoms have finally made their way into stores, with their new album Daughters of Atlas which can be found at HMV for only 9.99!

This picture was taken this morning by the bands vocalist, Hutton Wierzbicki
This album is 27 minutes and 55 seconds of melodies, harmonies, singing, screaming and just plain old pure musicality. First of all, if you haven`t heard of these guys, that is probably because they have only been around for about a year now. They recently just signed to Underground Operations (Protest the Hero, Lights, These Silhouettes)
The artwork on the album is incredible, designed by Sons of Nero who also have done designs for bands such as Dead and Divine, Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, Every Time I Die, Misery Signals and more. The CD case is one of the carboard ones, with the plastic disc holder on the inside (when you pick up a copy.. yes pick it up) you will understand what I mean. On the left are the lyrics, which are by no means simple. Huttons complex and witty way with words are stuck in your head for hours after hearing them. My two favourite songs are Pyramids and La Sarena.
Adressing the actual songs themselves;
Split the sky is a totally new recording, and at this point has up until the CD release only been heard on 88.3 Anger Management (check them out on stickam thursdays 10-12 http://stickam.com/883angermanagement). The Biltmore Hotel can also be heard on their myspace. The other 5 songs however (Pyramids, Catharsis, Telegraphic Static, Atlantis, La Serena) are also available on their first EP (Atlantis) available for free download online . My guess is they most likely have taken it down by now!
Their sound? Its hard to explain, all I can really say is that it is good. They remind me of a slightly more melodic misery signals, with vocals that are less low screams, and more pitching and singing involved.
This album is definately something worth putting on your iPod, and being some of the top played songs in your iTunes. Head over to myspace, add these dudes, and check out their tour dates to see when they are hitting up a town near you!

Toronto’s Juno award winning LIGHTS released her first ever full length album “The Listening” on September 22nd. The album includes already known hits from her Self titled EP like “Drive Your Soul” and others. The first song on the record “Saviour”, a propulsive pop ballad that represents the essence of Lights. “My songs are spawned from moments of sadness or intense emotion,” the singer says. “‘Saviour’ is a big example of taking one of those really dark emotional situations and turning it into something positive. I just happened to get hit with a really dark sad night. The melody started coming together and the words started pouring out. I was crying when I wrote the first line of the chorus and it actually sounds kind of like crying. It’s a really, really powerful song for me”
The Listening hits stores October 6th in the States. And for all you Canadians who havent yet picked up a copy of the album, I suggest you do, its incredible!
Coming out of Paisley, Scotland, Paolo Nutini exploded onto the music scene in 2006 with his hit singles These Streets and Last Request. Paolo has just released a new album entitled Coming Up Easy, featuring his new hit single under the same name.
