Band: The Dream, The Chase
Location: Brisbane, Australia (can you tell how much I love Australia?)
Label: Unsigned

Due to a technological “mishap”, this weeks New Music Monday, is New Music Tuesday! But moving on.

“The Dream, The Chase”, hailing from Brisbane, Australia, are a Progressive Alt. Rock band with great Metalcore Sensibility, and epic size in their sound. So you get a great expansive sound, beautiful and whimsical melodies/guitars, and some parts that pull it all right back and throw it in your face.

Forming in Summer 2008, the band spent the first while developing their sound and finding the right members to work with. After a year of playing shows, they went into the studio to record their well received debut EP, “Found Again”, which was released on Sept 24th, 2009. Recently they filmed a music video for their single, “Who Is Alone”. It has yet to be released, but the “Making Of” video on their My Space makes it look very well done and interesting.

My personal favorite part of this band is their ability to blend the hardcore sound with a lighter, yet still very intense/inventive melody, that doesn’t come across as over done, bland, or dated. So I find myself filled with the overwhelming ambiance of their music, while picturing myself at a hardcore show (at certain parts). I quickly realized, after a few listens, I was singing every line I could remember! It’s catchy, and interesting. It has a lot of depth, so you want to come back to hear each and every part that you missed the first time.

This band is perfect for people who like Hardcore/Metalcore, but want that lighter alternative band with great vocals and guitar work.

Update: Their music video for “Who Is Alone” is now up, and it’s more deadly than I ever thought it could be!

Go to their My Space to find it.
