… Onto likely one of the saddest days in Hamilton’s music history; SRTL plays their last hometown show to yet another sold out crowd. If you were lucky enough to see the show the night before, then imagine that but ten times as crazy. They were joined once again by friends Kingdoms. The Oxford Street Montage opened, and coincidentally enough, it was their last show also. What a night to remember.

This was a night of pre-mourning, lunacy, and happiness. This was SRTL’s first last night playing their hometown at The Casbah, and they weren’t about to let their fans down. SRTL showed their sold out hometown crowd that even though they were almost done as a band they still give it their all. Spiderman suits, endless stage dives, and holes in the ceiling this night was one to remember. SRTL were joined by good friends Kingdoms and The Oxford Street Montage.

Dinosaur Bones released their 7inch to happy fans readily downing one of their favourite brews at The Steamwhistle Unsigned Indie Club. Their latest studio efforts were shown off with tracks Ice Hotels and Royalty.

About Enemy Of The World

For those of you who that have yet to hear Four Year Strong’s third album release, the band is streaming the album on their myspace page. Enemy Of The World, is certainly different from previous albums by Four Year Strong. Despite differences, the band still shines light towards catchy pop riffs and the double-kick hardcore-fusion the band has grown popular for.

All of the songs have explored what seems like a new world for Four Year Strong, as the new album carries a much more punk feel to it ,in comparison to their pop hits such as “Catastrophe”. The new album is far more aggressive, and allows the chance to gain a bigger audience in the heavier music scene (not that they aren’t already hugely popular). Another new aspect to this album is the fact that the band has started using Josh Lyford as a third vocalist in the recordings. After seeing the band play this past summer in Toronto, I was blown away at the amount of energy Lyford provided on stage, and for a synth player he has certainly found a way to make his part of the band recognizable. The aggressive vocals Lyford does on the album play along perfectly with the up beat punk rhythms, and gang vocals that four year strong makes so very vital in all their songs. Jay Pepito (vocalist of Reign Supreme) is also featured on the track “What The Hell Is A Gigawatt?“. Don’t forget those breakdowns that leave even hardcore or metal bands in the rain. In that respect, Four Year Strong has started to incorporate a more “old school” hardcore element to their songs; including slow two steps, and pounding tomb drums leading to choruses that everyone can enjoy.

It is safe to say that Four Year Strong has done it again, proving that pop punk can be a part of everyone’s music library. Sing alongs and all, the band has managed to produce an album that will get equal or greater fame than both of their previous albums. Enemy Of The World, will be released everywhere on

March 9^th.

The Band will also be starting up on a month long tour across The US and Canada with Everytime I Die, Polar Bear Club, and Trapped Under Ice. The tour will be starting on March 10^th in Syracuse, New York and by the looks of this line up anyone attending is certainly in for a treat. If you plan on going to any of the dates on this tour, I would suggest ordering tickets as most of these shows are expected to sell out.

“Of Whispers” are a brand new band based in Melbourne, Australia. Together less than a year, they have done an incredible amount of work, including a 3 song demo (which sounds better than most bands Debut EPs), a music video and a full tour of Australia! With that said, they plan to record and release new songs in the coming months, and begin a new tour with “City Escape”.

Following the Misery Signals/Counterparts Melodic Hardcore structure, original is not something most would call this band, but what they would call them, is Damn Good. Their level of musicality in relation to their age (or any age really) is incredible. They’re young, skilled and full of inspiration. Like most good bands of the genre, they have a great drummer, that was obviously influenced by the works of “Branden Morgan” (Misery Signals), examples of this can be heard in “If Sheep Had Sharks Teeth”. Though let it be known that every member of the band brings their own piece to the table, as the guitar work and vocals are equally great with their melodies.

I can see a lot of good music coming from them in the future, they only need to define a unique sound that they can call their own, but for the time being, they’re writing some fine, time tested, music that most Hardcore fans can really dig their teeth into.

This band is perfect for fans of “Misery Signals”, “Counterparts”, and “Strangers”.

The band has also released the first single off the album entitled “Between the Lines”, which has yet again proved why The Ghost Inside is recognized as such a powerful force in the modern hardcore scene. After spending hours on  youTube to see if I could find live clips of some new songs, I finally came across another song called “Greater Distance”. In comparison to their new single “Greater Distance” shows an even heavier side of the band, but still maintains that distinct sound that is The Ghost Inside. I highly recommend listening to the new single, as there is something in it that all fans of heavy music can enjoy. Additionally to the new album, The Ghost Inside have started touring again. In less than a month the band, along side Unearth, Stick To Your Guns, and many more, will be hitting up a number of Canadian dates on the second Atticus Metal Tour. Get ready for great things to come from the heavy, melodic, fast passed, high energy force that is The Ghost Inside.
