Band: Dream On, Dreamer
Location: Melbourne, Australia
Label: Unsigned (Coming Soon?)
My Space: http://www.myspace.com/dreamondreamerband

“Dream On, Dreamer” are a new Australian Metalcore/Screamo group in the vein of bands like “In Fear And Faith”, and “The Word Alive”. Like much of the incredible bands coming from Australia as of late, these guys started in early 2009, and have been working non-stop to establish themselves in the local scene and on a National level by touring endlessly with bands such as City Escape and Sienna Skies. Along with that they were quick to record a demo, followed by an EP, and once again, they have another EP coming out in March. So due these quick and decisive movements, they’ve quickly grown in status and solidified themselves as an upcoming forefront band in Australia.

Although they’re not the most original band, they’re one of the few who do the style quite well. They’re also one of the few who do not coming across and whiny, boring or over done and dated. I have a good feeling they shall be exploding onto the global scene soon, because they’re the style fits the bill of what everyone wants to hear at the moment, but it has that extra something that sets them apart from the other bands and will help them last on a long term scale.

One of the rare assets they have that I quite enjoy is a very good Keyboardist. Unlike most bands of the genre, who just leave the keyboard preset sounds and rhythms to take over, they seem to actually invest the time into fine tunning it to perfection, which is especially noticeable, unique, and incredible in songs like “Vultures” and “Set Sail Armada”. It’s also not just a background noise, which is my main beef with bands like “The Devil Wears Prada”, who’s keyboardist’s best parts constantly get left out because they’re simply just FAR too quiet.

So in conclusion, I find this band to be one of the extremely few bands to flourish as an individual in this genre, and would be perfect for fans of “In Fear And Faith” and “The Word Alive”.

No Consequence

Band: No Consequence
Location: Southern Britain
Label: Basick
My Space: http://www.myspace.com/noconsequence

No Consequence are a long standing band that have only recently begun to gain well deserved attention from the Metal community. They flourish in one of thee most difficult genres to even begin to think about writing in, Progressive/Tech Deathcore. With that said, their music manages to flawlessly cross between melodic and dissonant while keeping the music brutal (and perfectly timed) at every second. Not only do they flourish in a difficult genre, but in a difficult location, Britain, which in my opinion, is the worlds capital for Technical and Progressive Metal. It would be most difficult there because they are competing with bands such as Architects, Fell Silent, The Arusha Accord, and a slew of other front runner bands that lead those genres. But with that said, it is no surprise they are rising quickly, because they are one of the best bands in the country.

After their signing to Basick last summer, they immediately followed it up on Aug 30th, 2009, with their most current release, “In The Shadow Of Gods”, which is a mind blowing album with it’s technical precision and high level of musicality. Basick obviously sees the incredible potential of this band and unleashed the best Music Engineers at hand, which is quite evident as the production on the album is perfectly fine tuned for this band. So if you’re band wants a reference to send to your future music engineer as to what you want the drums to sound like, well here it is!

Most recently their 2nd vocalist was forced to leave the band due to health complications, so with such a grand push from 2009 being carried into 2010, I am very interested in seeing how they pick back up, or if they even stop for a moment.

To sum it all up, this band is a perfect find for any fans of Architects, Fell Silent, The Arusha Accord, or fans of just damn good Metal.

Band: Northlane
Location: Sydney, Australia
Label: Unsigned
My Space: http://www.myspace.com/northlaneaus

“Northlane” are another brand new band out of Australia’s Metal capital, Sydney. Since their debut performance in April of 2009, the band have been moving lightening fast to write only top notch Metalcore and blow the roofs off of every venue they play! Their debut EP, “Hollow Existence” was released on Jan 17th, 2010, and it’s a must have for all Metalcore fans! End to end it is one of thee most powerful debut CD’s I’ve heard in a long time.

I have a good feeling it won’t be long before this band is picked up by a label and hopefully shipped off to our lovely continent! But until then, if you happen to be in Australia, be sure not to miss them with awesome bands such as “Vegas In Ruins” (See New Music Friday) and The Storm Picturesque!
