“so heres the deal…. a while back, a man came to all of us, and he had a dream. a dream of getting all of his best friends into a room together, then have someone press record, and see what would happen. i dont know if any of us really believe that it would happen, until we checked our email and saw flight reservations waiting.”
So who are they you ask? Lets just say people call them a “supergroup”. No, they all don’t have super powers, but all the members of the band have all been in different bands, we all have heard of before. Isles & Glaciers consists of members from Emarosa, Cinematic Sunrise, The Receiving End of Sirens, Pierce the Veil, Underminded, and former members of Chiodos, The Sound of Animals Fighting, Dance Gavin Dance, Boys Night Out, and Fordirelifesake. I listened to their first recorded song “Hills Like White Elephants” back in May 2009, but only thought of it as being a side project, and nothing would really come from it. It wasn’t until later on that year where I started doubting the thought of Isles & Glaciers just being a “fun” band, but becoming more of a legit band.
Isles & Glaciers first seemed to be really something that exists after Craig Owens (formerly of Chiodos at the time), and Jonny Craig (formerly of Dance Gavin Dance) performed a show in Lexington, Kentucky on August 30, 2008. A couple months later, Craig Owens confirmed these rumors through his personal website on September 4, 2008, saying, “I was just talking to my brother and friend Jonny Craig. Him and I plan on hitting the studio in early December together to rock out a fun EP for everyone, also including our friends Vic Fuentes, and Nick Martin + more ?.”
Billboard.com stated that a member of Circa survive would be involved in this, and right away people thought Anthony Green. The official band members were finally posted on December 15 by Alternative Press, and Anthony Green was not one of them nor anyone from Circa Survive, but, Craig Owens (vocals), Jonny Craig (vocals), Vic Fuentes(vocals/guitar), Nick Martin (guitar), Matt Goddard (bass), Brian Southall (guitar/ programming) and Mike Fuentes (drums).
It was announced yesterday (Feb.10.2010) that their debut EP “The Hearts Of Lonely People” will be avalible digitally and exclusivly through Hot Topic on March 9th, 2010.
I suggest giving them a listen if you are or were a fan of the members old/current bands. From the one song they have posted on their myspace “Hills As White As Elephants”, they are a mix of Dance Gavin Dance’s Downtown Battle Mountain and Chiodos’ Bone Palace Ballet. The vocals in my opinion, are amazing, and asking for a better duo would just be greedy.
Will this take a lead further then any of all the members old/current bands or will this die in a couple of months?
Give us your opinion!
